AWS Class ENi-CI coated electrodes are primarily composed of high-purity nickel, typically containing more than 95% nickel in the weld deposit. Minor controlled elements are present to stabilize the arc and improve weld soundness. The high nickel content results in excellent ductility, good tensile strength (approximately 300–400 MPa), and very low crack sensitivity. The weld metal remains soft and easily machinable, allowing precise finishing after welding and ensuring good compatibility with various grades of cast iron.
